Bob's Lobster

So a Saturday afternoon of procrastinating from a pending assignment (eek!), led me to looking for a food festival to swing by. Luckily there were a few in London town that weekend, including in Dalston, one of my favourite parts of London and conveniently close by.

And then I saw it... Bob's Lobster. Selling fleshy lobster and crab rolls, I was sold. And so I made my way down to Dalston Yard's Street Fest, eager for some juicy lobster flesh.

Unfortunately when I arrived, Bob's was still setting up at 5.10pm. And despite being told on two occasions that they would be open in 5 minutes, I actually had to wait 40 minutes before they were ready to take orders. Downing my hunger even more, others were served before me, despite my 40 minute presence of waiting. But lo and behold, I let that go and still had faith.

MENU: The menu was short and sweet, featuring lobster roll and crab roll in two sizes. Also on the menu is a Beach Bucket, featuring lobster tail, clams, mussels, chorizo and grilled sweetcorn for £20. On a budget, I sought my eyes on the full Lobster roll @£13

TASTE: God damn, that Lobster was juicy! It was fresh and fleshy, seasoned beautifully with flavours of lemon, oregano and even a strange finishing taste of celery, all complimented with a sprinkle of Paprika. Bob definitely got his seasoning right! The bread is a toasted brioche roll, crisp and warm. Unfortunately, there was no mayo in my bun.. I'm unsure as to whether this is beyond Bob's recipe or if someone simply forgot to give me some :( So my bun was a little dry and in lack of something creamy to really tingle my taste buns.

On reflection, I do wish I had bought 1/2 a lobster roll (£7) and 1/2  a crab roll (£6) to compare the two.

Overall, the lobster roll was good, but would have been awesome with a dollop of mayo. Service a bit crap, but there's only so much you can expect from a foodie fest.

Overall rating = 6/10
